Cape Town - Daryll Cullinan said the match between India and the Proteas had 'degenerated into the Kallis show' in Jacques Kallis' final Test.

Speaking with fellow guest Sanjay Manjrekar on ESPN's cricinfo show "Match Point", Cullinan criticised Kallis and discussed how South Africa had failed to seize the initiative to take control of the match by slowing down after tea on day three of the second Test.

"Sadly the match has degenerated into a Kallis show," Cullinan said.

"He was a great cricketer let us give him that, but take a step back from that, there is a Test match on the go and there is a series to win and I don't get the impression South Africa are interested in that."

In an extraordinary parting shot unleashed on his former team-mate, Cullinan, whose own exit from cricket and the Proteas was mired in controversy, seemed to question Kallis' place amongst the greats of the game.

"One thing that was shared by a few bowlers that played against South Africa, is that they never felt that Kallis could hurt them, they felt they could bowl at him, that there were always more dangerous players around him."

"I have always felt Jacques Kallis (often misses the opportunity) to stamp his authority on the game, that's why there will always be question marks over where he fits in the bigger picture of the true cricketing greats," Cullinan said.

Kallis went on to score 115 runs in what is likely to be his final innings on day four of the second Test against India.

Kallis finished second on the all-time list of century-makers after Sachin Tendulkar and third on the all-time list of runs scored in Tests after Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting after his first innings in the second Test.
