Unless there are dramatic changes in the closing couple of weeks, the end of the UAE-staged Indian Premier League probably cannot come quickly enough for several South African cricketers all too fitfully involved in it.

Four extremely well-established Proteas internationals – Lungi Ngidi, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir and David Miller – had played a miserly combined total of five matches by Tuesday, with the tournament now well past the halfway mark in round-robin play.
