By now, a substantial chunk of the South African and Indian cricketing fraternity is familiar with Marco Jansen's most famous exploit - beating Virat Kohli outside off three times in a row as a 17-year-old net bowler back in 2018.

It proved one of the factors that led to Indian Premier League (IPL) giants Mumbai Indians nabbing him for R387 000 at this year's tournament auction, where he impressed with a spell of 2/28 on debut last weekend.

Yet there's another story that's contributed greatly to the now 20-year-old left-arm quick's burgeoning reputation as one of local cricket's most exciting talents.
