Cape Town - Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius is currently nursing a fractured hand after picking up the injury in the ongoing Mzansi Super League (MSL).

Rocks management revealed that Pretorius has a "minimally displaced fracture to the right hand", which he picked up playing for the Paarl Rocks in the Cape derby at Newlands on Sunday.

The 30-year-old has since gone to see a specialist on Wednesday and is currently busy in rehabilitation.

The Rocks are, however, hopeful that Pretorius will be ready for their remaining home matches at Boland Park, which are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 4 and Sunday, December 8.

This is good news for the Proteas, as his availability will be key when South Africa welcome England to their shores this summer for a four-Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

Pretorius has played in only four MSL games this season to date and has taken three wickets and scored 109 runs.

The Paarl-franchise are currently level with the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at the top of the MSL standings on 19 points.

The Rocks travel to Pretoria as they face the Tshwane Spartans on Friday at Centurion (17:30).
