Cape Town - They may be the No 1 ranked ODI side in the world, but the Proteas are still not favourites to lift the ICC Champions Trophy in England in June.

According to local bookmakers Sportingbet, hosts England are the front-runners to win the tournament in their own conditions and can be backed at 11/4

With a reputation of getting up for big tournaments, Australia have been named second favourites at 100/30

South Africa and India then both come in at 4/1 followed by New Zealand at 9/1, Pakistan at 18/1, Sri Lanka at 25/1 and Bangladesh at 40/1

The Proteas are looking for only their second piece of major ICC silverware, with their only triumph to date coming in 1998 at the then-named ICC Knockout Trophy.

They are grouped alongside Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan in a tricky pool and open their account against the Sri Lankans on June 3 at the Oval in London.

The tournament final takes place at the same venue on June 18.
