New Proteas Test coach Shukri Conrad is under no illusions about the scale of the challenge that’s confronting him.

Conrad's role is restoring the well-worn shine of South Africa's fallen Test team - beaten in England and humiliated in Australia last year.

The last time vociferous cheers came in their direction was when SA beat India in the come-from-behind 2-1 series win in December 2021. That celebrated victory seems an eternity from now.
