Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Graeme Smith have parted ways after the former director of cricket's contract expired at the end of March.
Although there is a pending disciplinary arbitration outcome pending on Smith following Social Justice and Nation-building (SJN) findings, CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki said the outcome of the disciplinary process was merely for "closure".
Smith is answerable for the manner in which he appointed Proteas head coach Mark Boucher in December 2019 without advertising the position or conducting interviews - a process SJN chairperson advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza deemed flawed in his report last year.
