Cape Town - Vernon Philander looks likely to come out and bat for the Proteas on day three of the third Test against England at The Oval.

The Proteas go into Saturday's play in a heap of trouble at 126/8, still 28 runs away from avoiding the follow-on.

There had been a major concern that they would have to complete their innings without Philander.
