The Proteas will bat first in the third and final T20 against England at Newlands on Tuesday after skipper Quinton de Kock won the toss.

Already 2-0 down in the series having lost in Cape Town on Friday and then again on Sunday in Paarl, the Proteas are not playing for much more than pride.

De Kock emphasised in the week, though, that South Africa needed a win on Tuesday "for their own sake".

In team selection, Heinrich Klaasen misses out after having fallen slightly ill on Tuesday morning while Kagiso Rabada was left out due to a "niggle", according to De Kock.

Pite van Biljon returns to the South African top order having played the first game of the series while speedster Lutho Sipamla is Rabada's replacement.

In both of the first two matches, there were sustained periods where it looked as though the hosts would get over the line, but instead those defeats left De Kock with a record of three wins from 10 in his record as T20 captain.
