The first ODI between the Proteas and England, scheduled to take place at Newlands on Friday, has been postponed.
The match will now take place on Sunday in Paarl.
In a statement on Friday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed that the decision had been taken after "the results from a player from the Proteas team testing positive for COVID-19 after the teams' last round of scheduled testing performed on Thursday ahead of the ODIs."
"In the interests of the safety and well-being of both teams, match officials and all involved in the match, the acting CEO of CSA, Kugandrie Govender as well as the CEO of the ECB, Tom Harrison, have agreed to postpone the first fixture to Sunday," the statement concluded.
This is the third time a Proteas player has tested positive for the coronavirus since the squad was announced ahead of the recently-completed T20 series against England.
One player had tested positive before the Proteas entered their Vineyard Hotel bio-bubble in Cape Town while a second had tested positive inside the bio-bubble and was then removed.
England, meanwhile, have not returned any positive cases since they have been in the country.
As a result of the postponement, the rest of the tour itinerary has now been changed.
The amended tour dates are as follows:
Sunday, 6 December - 1st ODI, Boland Park, Paarl (Day Match)
Monday, 7 December - 2nd ODI, Newlands, Cape Town (Day-night Match)
Wednesday, 9 December 2020 - 3rd ODI, Newlands, Cape Town (Day-night Match)
