Cape Town - Lead by captain Faf du Plessis, the Proteas used the morning session of the second day at Centurion to build towards a massive total in their first innings.

du Plessis (58*) and Duminy started off slowly, seeing off the second new ball. Starting the day on 283/3 the pair added 34 runs before Duminy fell for 88 wafting at a slower bouncer from Tim Southee.

Temba Bavuma joined du Plessis and just when they looked ready to build a substantial partnership, Bavuma fell to another short ball, this time from Neil Wagner.

Du Plessis and Stiaan van Zyl (4*) saw the Proteas to lunch with the score on 358/5.

Wagner was the pick of the Black Cap bowlers with 3/65 from his 29 overs.

The Proteas will be hoping to build towards well over 400 in their first innings and aim to bat only once in the match.

The will be buoyed by the fact that their is some movement in the wicket, especially with the new ball.
