Dane van Niekerk's omission on fitness grounds from the national women's T20 squad for the World Cup that'll be played on these shores from the 10th to the 26th of this month has again cast the spotlight on Cricket South Africa's fitness standards.

Van Niekerk, a long-term former Proteas women's captain under whom the team achieved dizzying results, didn't make the World Cup squad on Tuesday because of failing to meet the women's 2km time-trial cut off time 09:30 by just 18 seconds
