So there can -- at least in the result column -- be life for the Proteas without Quinton de Kock.

That was demonstrated, at least until their next match in the ICC T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Sharjah a few days onward, as a tenuous “possible” in Dubai on Tuesday.

Not that you’d stake your house on it becoming an ever-present, all singing and all dancing phenomenon, would you?
