The intention, the rationale, is sound enough ... but Heinrich Klaasen will know as well as anybody that only a bucked-up weight in runs will keep him in South Africa’s Twenty20 international team.

He is probably the individual under the most intense scrutiny from the XI who lost their ICC T20 World Cup opener against Australia in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

The result puts the Proteas quite firmly on the back foot already, considering that only two teams per group from the respective pools of six will advance to semi-final status.
