Cape Town - Should either South Africa's Charl Schwartzel or Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge fail to win this week's season-ending TOUR Championship, it will end an incredible 25-year win streak for Southern African golfers on the PGA Tour, according to the Golf Digest Facebook page.

Schwartzel and De Jonge are Southern Africa's lone representatives in the 30-man final event in this year's FedExCup race.

Schwartzel posted a two-under par 68 in Round 1 at East Lake GC on Thursday, to lie tied for sixth, four strokes adrift of early leader, Sweden's Henrik Stenson.

De Jonge carded a level par 70, to lie tied 18th.

Schwartzel (19th) is currently the highest ranked SA golfer in the world rankings, while De Jonge finds himself in 68th position.

Both Schwartzel and De Jonge will be in action for the International team at next week's Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village GC.
