The Joburg Open is under way at Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg and is the first tournament of the new DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour).

This year's tournament will be played on Randpark's Firethorn course, with 156 golfers in the field competing for R17.5 million in prize money.

The Sunshine Tour co-sanctioned event will be open to 2 000 vaccinated fans in Johannesburg with South Africa's Dean Burmester, the highest-ranked golfer in the field.

The DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour confirmed that the Joburg Open will conclude on Saturday after 54 holes following the international travel restrictions imposed on South Africa on Friday due to the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant in the country.
