KICK-OFF! After the players and coaches take the knee for Black Lives Matter, Kevin Friend blows his whistle and Capoue kicks off for Watford.
Barkley is tripped by Capoue just outside the box and wins a free-kick within shooting range.
Giroud and Willian stand over the ball. Giroud takes the shot, but it cannons off Craig Dawson in the wall.
Willian passes to Mount off a short corner. The young Englishman floats the ball in, but it’s above everyone in the box and behind for a goal-kick.
Pulisic is clipped and takes the free-kick quickly. Chelsea work it to James on their right, who crosses, but that’s collected comfortably by Foster.
Dawson fires at goal from long range, but doesn’t catch it cleanly and drags his low shot wide of goal.
Chelsea look to catch Watford on the counter. Willian’s crack at goal is deflected, but Foster does well to hold on.
Zouma clatters into Deeney as he rises for a header. The Watford skipper is back up, but limping.
SAVE! Chelsea break again. Willian links up with Pulisic, who passes to Giroud, who forces a fine save from the outstretched leg of Foster!
Capoue picks up a yellow card for a nasty challenge on Giroud.
Willian hits the wall from the ensuing free-kick. After some ping-pong, Watford finally clear.
Capoue wins a free-kick off Mount and Chalobah goes for goal, but he misses the target and it’s time for a drinks break.
Chelsea get the game back underway with a goal-kick.
GOAL, CHELSEA, GIROUD! 1-0: After a patient build-up from Chelsea, Barkley finds Giroud in the box and he fires a low effort past Foster!
Azpilicueta’s cross finds Pulisic, but he can’t get proper control on his header and it’s aimed straight into the grateful grasp of Foster.
Watford enjoy a good spell in possession, but Kiko’s cross is intercepted and then Chelsea begin to boss the ball again.
Sarr’s cross is turned behind by James for a corner — an area of weakness for Chelsea.
The delivery comes off a Chelsea head, only as far as Hughes, but Kanté then takes the ball off him.
Willian fires another free-kick into the wall. Chelsea haven’t done particularly well from those tonight.
Chelsea bombard the Watford area with crosses. Those are dealt with, but then Deeney fouls Kanté outside the box.
Mount takes the free-kick this time. Once again, it’s hit straight into the wall.
PENALTY! Capoue brings Pulisic down in the area and Friend points to the spot.
GOAL, CHELSEA, WILLIAN! 2-0: Willian sends Foster the wrong way and fires into the top corner!
HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 2-0 WATFORD. The Blues go into half-time comfortably ahead thanks to a Giroud strike and a Willian penalty.
We’re into three minutes of stoppage time. Chelsea counter off a Watford corner, with Willian and Pulisic surging forward, but Kiko intervenes and wins the ball.
KICK-OFF! Chelsea get the second half up and running.
Pulisic dances around the edge of the box and goes for goal, but can’t find the end product. The shot is off target.
Mount has a crack at goal now, but Kabasele gets a crucial block in.
Mariappa picks up a yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Pulisic.
Chelsea have barely been troubled at the back in this game, but they need to be careful. Their defensive frailties were exposed against West Ham.
Mount plays a one-two off Pulisic and then crosses towards Giroud, but Dawson slides in to clear behind.
Willian’s corner is collected by Foster.
Capoue makes way for Watford and is replaced by Welbeck.
Willian goes on a marauding run and feeds Giroud, but the Frenchman’s effort is saved by Foster.
Chelsea are still dictating play and showing no sign of relenting.
Willian’s pass is deflected, but into the path of Giroud, whose volley is blocked. Kanté follows up, but his shot cannons off a body.
Masina and Cleverley replace Kiko and Deeney for Watford.
Willian’s corner finds Zouma, whose header is a decent one, but straight at Foster.
Willian cuts inside and has a go at goal, but Foster does well to tip it behind.
After the second half drinks break, the game is back underway, with Chelsea picking up where they left off. However, Pulisic is flagged offside.
Masina goes for goal from long range, but after the bounce, it’s quite a comfortable save for Kepa to make.
Hughes picks out Dawson from a free-kick, but he heads off target. Watford are getting forward, but still haven’t properly challenged Kepa.
Abraham, Hudson-Odoi, and Loftus-Cheek replace Mount, Giroud, and Willian.
Gilmour comes on for Kanté in another Chelsea substitution, this one injury-enforced. Jorginho does not look particularly pleased.
Masina goes for goal again, this time off a free-kick. Once again, it’s a comfortable save for Kepa.
Good build-up from Watford this time. Chalobah feeds Welbeck and Kepa is only able to parry his shot. Zouma makes a vital clearance.
Sarr makes way for Watford and is replaced for Pereyra, who has often been a thorn in Chelsea’s side.
Pulisic dances free of two Watford defenders and goes down. Is that a penalty? Friend says no, but checks with VAR.
VAR confirms Friend’s decision. Kabasele did not appear to make a huge amount of contact with the American wizard.
James picks out Loftus-Cheek with a lovely cross towards the far post, but the header isn’t properly timed and misses the target.
FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 3-0 WATFORD. Barkley’s goal put the icing on the cake. Chelsea go back into fourth place with a comfortable win, while Watford are in grave danger.
GOAL, CHELSEA, BARKLEY! 3-0: After a great build-up, Azpilicueta feeds Barkley, who controls and fires home. Game, set, match!
Four minutes minimum of stoppage time have been added on. Chelsea are close to seeing this out.
At the other end, Welbeck beats Christensen on Watford’s left and pulls back, but Hughes fails to tap in under pressure from Loftus-Cheek.
Azpilicueta wins the ball in a promising position off Pereyra. The left-back feeds Pulisic, whose shot is blocked.
