Off we go with Crystal Palace getting the match underway at Old Trafford.
Townsend wins an early foul off McTominay and whips the resulting free-kick into the box, where Shaw is on hand to head clear.
Palace are knocking the ball about comfortably at the back. Roy Hodgson has built a team which is almost always cool, calm and composed as a unit.
De Gea's poor pass is intercepted by McCarthy. This invites pressure onto United. They survive, but that's concerning.
GOAL, PALACE, TOWNSEND! 0-1: Schlupp is played in by a wonderful ball over the top and feeds Townsend at the far post for the finish after keeping the ball away from Lindelof. Palace deservedly lead at Old Trafford!
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cuts a frustrated figure on the sidelines. Townsend has a long-range go at goal after an intricate passing move following a Palace throw-in. That's wide of goal.
Fosu-Mensah has a go at goal from long range, which is deflected wide for a corner.
De Gea nearly loses possession to Zaha. Manchester United are very shaky at the back.
Bruno Fernandes limps off to receive medical attention. It doesn't appear too serious, and thankfully so for United. They need him now more than ever. Indeed, he goes back onto the field of play.
Pogba fires at goal from just outside the box. Not a bad strike, but Guaita gets down to make the save and hold on.
McTominay shoots from the edge of the box and his effort seemingly takes a deflection off Kouyate, just wide of goal.
McTominay looks to slip Martial into space. Nice idea, but he overhits his pass, much to the chagrin of the Frenchman.
Townsend shoots with his left foot from the edge of the box, but miscues his effort and fires off target.
Fernandes fires at goal from just outside the box. That shot deflects off Kouyate into Guaita's grateful grasp.
James' cross from United's right is cleared away. Palace counter and Zaha looks to beat Lindelof, who handles him well and turns the ball behind for a corner.
United struggle to clear the corner from McCarthy, but then Fernandes turns defence into attack with a clever long ball, which Guaita struggles to clear. Palace have enough bodies back to prevent Rashford from capitalising.
News from elsewhere is that Gareth Bale has re-joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. The Welsh international has previously been linked with United and will now potentially provide a major boost to their Champions League-chasing rivals.
Back to the action and Rashford has a shot from the edge of the box blocked.
James goes for goal after palace fail to clear Fosu-Mensah's ball from United's right, but his shot from inside the box is blocked.
Fernandes is caught just outside the box by Townsend. Was there a simultaneous foul from Mitchell on Pogba inside the penalty area? Martin Atkinson goes to VAR. This is either a free-kick in a dangerous area or a United penalty.

Manchester United get the second half underway. They've made a change over the break with Greenwood on for James.

Pogba goes for goal with his weaker foot from outside the box, but Guaita gets down and holds on.
Townsend is teed up just inside the box and blasts goalwards. That's just over the target. It looks like it took a deflection off Pogba, so it's a corner. McCarthy's delivery is cleared.
Fosu-Mensah picks up a yellow card for a foul out wide. Townsend's free-kick fails to beat Fernandes, the first man.
Fosu-Mensah's cross finds Greenwood at the far post, but he heads wide of goal.
Zaha chases a ball in space, but de Gea anticipates the danger and gets to it first.
Townsend is played into space on Palace's right by Zaha and pulls back. Schlupp struggles to get the shot away and sees his effort blocked.
Yellow card for Maguire for a foul. Van de Beek appears to be getting ready to make his Manchester United debut.
Greenwood goes for goal from the edge of the box and McCarthy makes the block.
GOAL DISALLOWED! Ayew plays Zaha in and he fires past de Gea and into the net. However, the flag is up for offside and rightly so. Pogba goes off, meanwhile, to be replaced by van de Beek.
Rashford has a go at goal from outside the box and fires wide.
PENALTY! A VAR review sees Lindelof blown up for handball in the box. Palace can double their lead!
SAVED! Ayew's penalty is a weak one and de Gea gets down to keep it out!
