A second string Liverpool side suffered Champions League defeat in midweek and will be hoping to bounce back today.
Hello and welcome to our coverage of today's Premier League clash between Brighton and champions Liverpool, live from the Amex.
KICK OFF: We're underway in Brighton!
Players are slipping and sliding all over the place. The ball actually looks to be holding up on the turf, too.
Chance! Jota sets off on the left and looks to square for Salah at the far post, but March intercepts! That would have been a tap-in for Salah, and he looks frustrated he didn't receive the ball!
Chance! abinho plays a beauty from defence for Salah behind the Brighton line - he moved too quick for Webster there - but as he chests it down and shoots on the stretch from 15 yards, he slices it wide of Ryan's right-hand post!
Liverpool win a corner but it comes to nothing, before Milner's return ball is too deep for the crowded box. Robertson swings another ball in, this time from the left, but Brighton eventually push out.
HUGE chance for Brighton to take a surprise lead. Liverpool are split open with a simple ball as Maupay spots Connolly through on goal. Connolly has time to compose himself as he gets into the box, but he pokes it wide! Horrible finish, no bend on it. Big let off for Liverpool.
Intriguing start here in the early kick off. Liverpool bright in the final third, not so much their defensive third.
A hopeful ball over the top from Gross prompts Alisson to rush out and clear ahead of Connolly! Liverpool have to be careful here; their high line is being feasted on by Brighton, who are happy to chuck the ball over the top for the run of Connolly.
PENALTY! Williams gets caught out as he goes for a ball with Connolly on the left of the box, and the Irishman's legs get tangled with Williams. He goes down, and Stuart Attwell points to the spot! There's a brief check from VAR but that's not going to be overturned.
PENALTY MISS! Maupay sends his penalty wide! What an awful miss. Brighton have had two glorious opportunities and should absolutely be ahead. Liverpool will surely make them pay for these misses.
Things go from bad to worse for Maupay, who has just gone down, and looks to have done his hamstring. He trudges off the pitch in a foul mood, and Leandro Trossard will replace him shortly.
As bad as their misses have been, Graham Potter will at least be encouraged by how his side have managed to create opportunities against this Liverpool side.
Substitution: Finally, Leandro Trossard is brought on to replace Maupay, who left the field almost five minutes ago. 11 v 11 again.
Liverpool started brightly, but look flat now. Brighton are refusing to sit back, and possession is beginning to level out. Brighton have been the better side.
Salah trying to force things with a run over the top; Milner spots him, but it's just too heavy down the right channel as Ryan rushes out to collect.
Wide! Neco Williams loses the ball as Trossard counters for Brighton. He looks to find a yard on Milner, looks to squeeze it far post past Alisson, but it flies just wide! Another big chance for the Seagulls.
GOAL! Salah gives Liverpool the lead! That's the difference between the two sides. Firmino receives a long ball on the right and flips a beauty over the top for Salah to run onto. He takes a touch, and pushes it past the onrushing Ryan as he comes out.
Hang on a second... VAR are having a look at this, it could be offside.
NO GOAL! VAR has ruled that goal out for offside. Salah was fractionally off. The score remains 0-0!
Welbeck somehow piles his way past three red shirts, gets to the left of the box and sticks one across the face of goal, but no team-mate is there to turn home!
Trouble now for Bissouma, who is down with a hip injury. Brighton have already had to replace one player due to injury, they'll probably wait until the break to assess Bissouma properly.
Booking: Veltman's lunge on Firmino earns him a booking. He stands on his foot as he eagerly went for the ball.
We're into the first of 2 added minutes.
Substitution: There's a half-time change to report on from the visitors. Club captain Jordan Henderson replaces Neco Williams, who struggled on his first Premier League start of the season in the first half. James Milner goes right back.
SECOND HALF: We're back underway.
HALF TIME: You won't see many more eventual goalless halves. Good chances for both sides, a penalty miss, a disallowed goal, an injury but... no goals yet.
Liverpool with a bit more of a ball in the second half, but Brighton haven't changed their plans. As soon as the full-backs get it, it's long for Connolly behind the defence. This time, Alisson comes out to collect.
Better from Liverpool. Wijnaldum piles forward, slips in Jota on the left of the box, but his deflected ball across the face of goal evades everyone and goes out for a throw.
Chance! Brighton counter as Welbeck gets in ahead of Fabinho, who went to ground too easily. He gets into the box, Connolly and Trossard want the pass, but Welbeck shifts onto his left and shoots straight at Alisson!
Brighton beginning to settle now and have had a spell of possession in midfield. Vetlman then finds March on the left wing, but his cross is high, wide and not very handsome. A waste, with Connolly and Welbeck waiting in the box.
Brilliant from Diogo Jota! Liverpool patiently build in the final third, and get their goal! Bissouma slips on the left as Robertson finds space to fizz a ball into Salah. His touch finds Jota, who dances past one challenge and finds for the bottom left corner from 15 yards.
Substitution: Adam Lallana is on to face his former club, he replaces Connolly, who probably should've scored in the first half.
Substitution: Mo Salah is not happy at all with this decision, he makes way for Sadio Mane.
Diogo Jota has scored nine goals in 14 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, including eight in his last eight.
Substitution: Change for Brighton, and it's a concern for Lallana. He's had to run down the tunnel just eight minutes after coming on, meaning Jahanbakhsh is on.
James Milner is down now... The injuries just keep on coming.
Chance! March strikes from a free-kick. It's a good effort but it was always going to be Alisson's to claim.
Substitution: Curtis Jones is on for Milner, who is forced off through injury.
Phillips goes up for a header and lands with an almighty thump after leaping over Solly March. Klopp is looking concerned as Phillips speaks to the physios on the side of the pitch.
Phillips is able to play on. Perhaps just a bit winded. He really did land hard on his back!
Close! March has looked dangerous down the left and he whips in a cross, which Robertson almost deflects into his own goal! Luckily for the Liverpool defender, it goes narrowly over the bar for a Brighton corner!
Booking: Ben White is booked for a challenge on Jota. There's no two ways about it, that's a bad call from the referee. That was an excellent and fair challenge and Brighton are unlucky to concede the free-kick.
DISALLOWED! For the second time in the match, Liverpool have a goal disallowed. This one was an easier decision for VAR as Mane was clearly offside when the free-kick was played in. That's justice as Liverpool shouldn't have had a free-kick to begin with. It remains 1-0.
GOAL! From the free-kick! That's very harsh on Brighton, but they failed to defend it properly. Mane heads in Robertson's free-kick.
Bissouma sends a ball into the Liverpool box looking for Veltman but he's overhit that and it's out for a Liverpool goal-kick.
Brighton pushing here and some good defending from Phillips - at the second attempt - keeps them at bay for now. March's ball for Welbeck was initially misread by the Liverpool defender but he recovered well to put it out for a Brighton corner. Firmino helps to get the resulting set-piece away.
There will be five minutes of added time.
Interesting one here. The ball goes into the Liverpool box and Robertson goes to clear but kicks Welbeck's boot in the process. VAR having a look...
GIVEN! PENALTY! Surprised by that, it definitely didn't look like one but Brighton now have (another) chance to score from the spot and level things up.
GOAL! Gross who blasts it right down the middle! On reflection, you can't say that it's not a fair result.
Brighton have it in the corner, running down the time... but then it breaks out and Alireza tries his luck. There's a deflection and it goes out for a Brighton corner...
FULL TIME: It finishes all square here. Klopp is furious. Liverpool spurn the chance to go three points clear at the top of the table.
