Off we go with the match getting underway. It's Stellenbosch who kick off.
Nice move from Cape Town City down their left flank. Mdantsane sets up Nodada, but his first touch is too heavy and he takes the ball too far away from goal to trouble Stephens. Cape Town City didn't take their chances in their last match, a 0-0 draw with Chippa United, and they need to be more clinical.
A Stellies free-kick from deep in the CT City half floats into the box, all the way to Leeuwenburgh, who gathers comfortably.
Dimgba looks to wriggle free inside the box and shoot, but his effort is blocked as he gets it away.
Johannes makes a professional foul on Ngoma to cut out the Cape Town City counter and picks up the first yellow card of the match.
Mendieta meets a cross in from van Heerden on Stellies' left, but he can't steer his header on target.
Mduduzi Mdantsane picks up a yellow card for a poor challenge to cut out a Stellenbosch break. He gets a suspension for the next game along with it.
Du Preez takes the ball around Leeuwenburgh and has a chance to score, but his touch is too wide and Ngoma gets back onto the line. The chance is gone.
GOAL, STELLENBOSCH, DE GOEDE! 0-1: From the ensuing corner, the header is flicked on to de Goede from Mendieta at the far post. He fires home on the volley, wrong-footing Leeuwenburgh with the help of a possible deflection!
Du Preez makes another incisive run, but assistant referee Shaun Olive lifts the offside flag.
Cape Town City attack down the left. Ngoma crosses and van Heerden slips at the far post, but Ralani can't get a clean shot away and Stephens makes the save.
Du Preez wriggles free on the edge of the box and shoots, but Leeuwenburgh saves at the near post. Stellenbosch have started brightly.
GOAL, CT CITY, NGOMA! 1-1: Ngoma is involved in a lovely build-up and Ralani tees up the volley at the end of it for the former Mamelodi Sundowns man to smash home the equaliser!
Both teams continue to enjoy periods on the front foot. This Cape derby has lived up to the hype so far.
Fielies picks up a yellow card for his foul on Mendieta. The free-kick is near the right corner, but van Heerden's strike nearly creeps into the net directly and is saved by Leeuwenburgh.
Stellenbosch headed into this game only just clear of the relegation zone and it's vital that they get a result.
Cupido makes a cynical challenge on du Preez right outside the box as he breaks free and picks up a yellow card.
CROSSBAR! Sinkala takes the ensuing free-kick and leaves Leeuwenburgh rooted to the spot, but hits the crossbar!
Stellenbosch are enjoying a spell on the front foot as Mendieta looks to wriggle free.
Cape Town City hit Stellies on the counter with Ralani leading it, but the move breaks down. Du Preez has a chance at the other end, but is unable to trouble Leeuwenburgh.
HALF-TIME: CAPE TOWN CITY 1-1 STELLENBOSCH. De Goede's volley put Stellenbosch ahead, but then an equally smashing volley from Ngoma levelled the scores. So far, the derby has lived up to its billing.
We head into two minutes of stoppage time with Stellenbosch doing most of the attacking, but looking vulnerable to the Cape Town City counter.
Off we go for the start of the second half. Mobara is on for Cupido, Ajagun for Makola and Fagrie Lakay is also on the field for Mdantsane.
OFF THE LINE! Ngoma tears through the heart of the defence and goes for goal. Van Heerden scrambles the ball away off the line!
GOAL, STELLENBOSCH, DU PREEZ! 1-2: Du Preez finally gets his reward! He is teed up by van Rooyen and curls a stunning shot past Leeuwenburgh!

There are Cape Town City appeals for a handball inside the penalty area after a shot from the edge of the box is blocked. Phillip Tinyani rejects them.
Mashego attacks down the left, but Stephens gets the block in off his cross.
Mendieta makes way for Stellenbosch with Nange coming on in his place.
Cape Town City are piling the pressure on as they look to force their way through a Stellies defence which has been solid in the second half albeit slightly shaky in the first.
Cape Town City have also made a substitution with Mkhize replacing Ngoma.
Skelem and Macheke are on in place of Jabaar and Mthethwa for Stellenbosch.
Van Heerden has the ball on the left and flicks it to du Preez, who does well to win a corner and run the clock down.
The ensuing corner is not cleared by Cape Town City and a chance is created for de Goede, who only just fires wide from close range! Mashego has an opportunity at the other end, but can't trouble Stephens.
Fielies has a go at goal from long range and it's a good strike, but Stephens is equal to it and makes the save.
Stellenbosch continue to run the clock down at every opportunity as they look to hold onto the three points.
We head into four minutes of stoppage time. Lakay goes down and picks up a yellow card for simulation! He was trying to win a penalty off de Goede.
FULL-TIME: CAPE TOWN CITY 1-2 STELLENBOSCH. Stellies end their seven-match winless run with a crucial derby win over Cape Town City, whose woes continue. Du Preez was the star of the show and scored the winner after Ngoma had cancelled out de Goede's opener.
