A very good start to the match as both teams are looking to take the initiative and keep possession.

Royal AM win a corner off Lebusa. The ball comes into the area but it's overhit.
Foul! Sundowns break and Monamodi fouls Shalulile. Lucky to avoid a yellow card there the Royal AM wingback.
Nearly a chance for Sundowns. Morena does well but his cross is cleared. Vilakazi tries to lob the loose ball over the defence for Shalulile but Nyame intercepts well for Royal AM.
Potsane bursts through the middle for Sundowns and is cut down by Lebusa, who amazingly avoids a card. The captain's armband may have afforded him some leeway there.
A Sundowns attack breaks down so Royal AM look to counter through Potsane. Shalulile lost the ball but chases back to regain it. That's excellent defensive work from the striker.
Tactics: Sundowns are playing a back three today, a very rare sight. It's Kekana, De Reuck and Lebusa as the centre backs. Vilakazi is partnering Jali in central midfield.
Yellow! Potsane again causes problems and is fouled by a poor challenge by Jali. The referee shows a caution. Jali will miss the next match due to an accumulation of bookings.
Mabena takes the resulting freekick but he drives it straight into the wall. Royal AM try to load the ball back into the box but the pass is over-cooked.
Sundowns try a build up scheme where Jali receives two yards from Mweene. The goalkeeper ends up going long and Kutumela is fouled from the long kick.
Save! Maema receives a pass from Lakay, cuts onto his right and forces Nyame into a smart save with a shot from 25 yards.
Maema receives for Sundowns between the lines, turns Manganyi with ease and has a shot which rolls wide of the upright.
CHANCE! Royal AM should be level as a huge chance is missed. A Mweene kick is sent back by Royal AM, Mabena takes the ball down and tees up Potsane but he can't finish from six yards. Great save from Mweene with his legs. It should be 1-1.
Mweene is down getting treatment for Sundowns. He seems to have hurt himself somewhat in making that key save.
Both sets of players are receiving instructions from their coaching staff as well as taking on fluids during this stoppage.
Penalty shout? Shalulile tumbles in the box for Sundowns after a bump from Mahashe. Referee Thando Ndzandzeka says no penalty. Correct call.
Offside! Royal AM again cause issues. Mabena plays a lovely through ball for Potsane, who finishes past Mweene but the offside flag had been raised -- good decision.
Block! Royal AM are looking so dangerous. They get behind the Downs midfield after Jali gives it away. It leads to a chance on the volley for Mabena but De Reuck blocks well. Very entertaining match this.
Shalulile makes a driving run down the right for Sundowns past Mahashe but his cross is far too strong and goes out for a throw on the side.
Close! Mahlasela plays a clever through ball for Mabena but he was about a yard offside.
Royal AM counter again and it's a foot race between Lebusa and Potsane. The latter goes down and looks to have been shoved and falls on the ball, handling it inadvertently.
Yellow! Potsane is carded for his reaction, kicking the ball away and showing dissent to the referee. Replays show it may have been a foul and therefore a red card for a professional foul.
Royal AM have a late freekick on the left. Masuku takes it but it's badly over-hit and Mweene can catch it unchallenged.

Royal take the freekick short to Potsane who puts a good cross. Lingwati heads towards goal but it's too weak to really cause any problems for Mweene in the Sundowns goal.
