When the Lions hosted Griquas in Super Rugby Unlocked they smashed the visitors 61-31. Can they repeat the feat in Kimberley where the Griquas are generally quite strong, although they've disappointed plenty this season.
The Lions themselves desperately need points as they sit four five points off the Cheetahs is 4th place.
With the points from Super Rugby Unlocked carrying over into the Currie Cup, Griquas have an impossible task ahead as they find themselves bottom with just three points.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Currie Cup fixture between Griquas and Lions at Tafel Lager Park in Kimberley.
Penalty to Griquas straight off the kick off. They will kick at goal.
KICK OFF! 0-0. The hosts get us underway at Tafel Lager Park. It is a hot day here with a strong wing - Griquas play into the wind in the first half.
De Beer misses the kick at goal. It wasn't the easiest kick but the wind made it a lot more difficult than it should have been.
Griquas have a scrum inside their own 22 after the Lions knock in on in attack.
Brilliant kick chase from Griquas and they win a penalty deep inside Lions territory. De Beer sets the line-out up on the Lions 5m line.
TRY! GRIQUAS! LUUS! 5-0. Luus scores off the back of the maul. Well played by the hosts.
De Beer misses the kick from out wide. Kicking into this wind is certainly not easy.
Jantjies fires a long pass but there is no one there. They come back for the advantage. Lions on attack, can they hit back?
Griquas defend brilliantly as the Lions attack on their line. However De Beer's clearance goes out on the 22 which keeps the pressure on the hosts.
Griquas have started the match well, and the Lions are playing like a team that has missed the last two weeks of action (which they have).
Lions are keeping Griquas pinned in their half now. That was expected given the strong wind at their backs.
The players are feeling this heat and wind. Players staying down regularly, plenty of water being carried onto the park. Not great rugby conditions this.
TRY! GRIQUAS! KEYTER! 10-0. The hosts are in again! This time it is Burger who snipes around the breakdown to get Griquas forward momentum. A simple pass out to the blindside is finished off by Keyter. Where was the Lions fringe defence?
Burger strikes the conversion well but the wind just blows it out. Horrible conditions for the 10's
Griquas attack again but lose the ball. Lions kick ahead from their own 22. Griquas coming straight back at them.
TRY! GRIQUAS! VERITY-AMM! 15-3. The try is good. Verity-Amm breaks two tackles after superb interplay between some forwards.
Verity-Amm goes over under the posts to score for Griquas. But we have a TMO check...
CONVERSION! DE BEER! 17-3. De Beer sinks this kick from right in front.
What a gutsy performance this has been by Griquas. This is more like them on home soil.
TRY! LIONS! SKOSAN! 17-8. Lions hit back just before the break. Quick hands by the Lions ensures he has a clear run at the line.
Jantjies misses the conversion from the touchline.
HALF TIME! 17-13. The Griquas were superb but only have a 4 point lead after allowing the Lions to score twice in the final four minutes of the half.
Jantjies hits the post with his conversion attempt.
TRY! LIONS! SKOSAN! 17-13. More brilliant hands from the Lions and they are over once again. Skosan with his brace.
The Lions get a scrum on the Griquas 5m line. Poor from Griquas as the ref marches them an extra 10 meters back.
KICK OFF! 17-13. We are underway in the second half. The Lions finished the first half strong, can they now take that momentum forward as the clouds gather above?
Lions should score but there is a knock-on. However there was advantage and the Lions will scrum again.
Griquas are lucky to not be a man down. Another scrum on their 5m line now as the rain begins to fall.
PENALTY TRY! LIONS! 17-20. The Lions take the lead for the first time in the match.
This weather is really strange. The wind is back, the rain is here and the sun is shining in patches.
The result stands so the Lions second half try is enough to secure them a 17-20 win in Kimberley. The hosts won't be happy who still have more than a chance of winning.
MATCH CALLED OFF! 17-20. The Currie Cup fixture between the Griquas and Lions has been called off due to the lighting that is still in the area.
A call will be made within the next seven or so minutes. The rain is still coming down at the moment but if the lightning is outside of a 25km radius we can get underway again, if not, then the match will be complete with the score staying as is. They have 30 minutes to make that call, there are about seven minutes remaining.
PLAY SUSPENDED! The players are rushed off the field as the lighting is within 1km of the stadium. They will return once it is safe to do so.
