Welcome to the Sydney Cricket Ground for our live coverage of this Super Rugby AU clash between the NSW Waratahs and the Reds.
Kick-Off! We are underway here at the SCG!
A good start by Jack Maddocks with a run down the left for the Waratahs after the start and it ends with the Reds securing a scrum after four phases.
Great work by the Reds to secure a scrum penalty after a few resets. Hegarty finds touch near halfway and they give the line-out ball away. Newsome does well to make his way to within five metres of the Reds line before they secure an offside penalty.
PENALTY, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 3-0: They go for goal and Harrison makes no mistake!
The Reds finally find their feet and after seven phases they secure a penalty inside the Waratahs 22 for not rolling away. They go for the corner and mess the line-out up yet again. Hooper says Thank You for the overthrow.
TRY, WARATAHS, GORDON! 8-0: The Waratahs secure a ball at the breakdown and go wide. They build patiently through the phases and then Jake Gordon storms over to SCORE!
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 10-0: Harrison secures the extras.
TRY, WARATAHS, GORDON! 15-0: It''s two from two for Jake Gordon, as he steals a try after another Reds mistake at the line-out. They secure a penalty and he takes a quick tap after great follow up play to SCORE!
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 17-0: Harrison secures the extras again.
The Reds secure yet another scrum penalty and the Waratahs are not happy. The Reds find a good touch and lose the line-out ball yet again!
TRY, WARATAHS, MADDOCKS! 22-0: The Waratahs are on fire at the SCG! Great work down the left by Maddocks and Dempsey! It was not great defence by the Reds and Maddocks punishes them with a great TRY!
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 24-0: Harrison does it again.
TRY, WARATAHS, GORDON! 29-0: It''s a hat-trick for Jake Gordon at the SCG- Yes this is rugby and fantastic stuff despite a poor Waratahs line-out. Good handling by Harrison assisted with that try.
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 31-0: Harrison does it again and can the Reds score next?
The Reds finally secure a line-out and make their way to the Waratahs 22. After 11 patient phases they go the right and then secure a penalty, as Hooper is over the top at the breakdown.
TRY, WARATAHS, NEWSOME! 36-0: Great work by Newsome to dive one-handed in order to prevent touching the line or the flag, after great handling from Maddocks and Dempsey!
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, HARRISON! 38-0: Harrison slots a BEAUTY!
HALF-TIME: WARATAHS 38-0 REDS. It has been one way traffic and the Reds have been outplayed in the first 40! Brad Thorn will not be happy. The highlight was a great hat-trick by Jake Gordon.
Kick-Off! We are back underway in the second half!
The Reds start where they left off and give away an early penalty. The Waratahs secure their subsequent line-out and after five phases they give away a penalty at the breakdown. Yet again the Reds give the ball away. It is raining hard now.
Gordon is off his feet and the Reds have a penalty. This time they take the tap only to lose the ball and turn it over at the breakdown. That has been the story of their evening.
The rain has not assisted either team with their handling.
The Reds secure a short-arm penalty and take it quickly. Needless to say it amounts to nothing and the slippery ball is not helping.
TRY, WARATAHS, HORTON! 43-0: The Waratahs secure a line-out five metres from the Reds line and drive forward. Great work by Tom Horton who holds on to dive over at the right time.
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, DONALDSON! 45-0: Donaldson converts and it is not happening for the Reds.
TRY, REDS, HARDY! 45-5: O'Connor tries a cross-kick and it works for him. The ball bounces right and the Reds are finally on the score sheet. A little too late? The conversion is pushed wide!
The Reds give away yet another scrum penalty after an early shove.
Can the Reds come back and sneak a win in the last 18 minutes? Maybe not!
NO TRY, WARATAHS ! The Waratahs secure a line-out inside the Reds 22. They string 13 phases together and then Dempsey claims a TRY after sneaking over from the breakdown. The TMO rules that the Reds took it back over the line and the Tahs feed a five metre scrum.
NO TRY, WARATAHS! The Waratahs come again after securing their scrum and after nine phases they feed another scrum three metres out. They go wide and this time Newsome cannot place it in the corner. The TMO confirms this. It was a great effort though!
The Reds give away another penalty at the breakdown and Dempsey secures the subsequent line-out for the Waratahs. After a scramble the Reds earn a relieving scrum.
We have a stoppage in play due to and injury and then the Waratahs secure another scrum penalty. Again they go for the corner. The Waratahs mess up the line-out, but then the Reds take it quickly and carry it back over their line. My Oh My!
The penalties are mounting against the Reds and they surely cannot wait for the final whistle now.
YELLOW CARD, REDS. NONGGORR! 45-5: The Reds lose Nonggorr after some repeated offences. No Surprises there! The Waratahs opt for a scrum and the Reds secure the ball. Great work!
TRY, REDS, O'CONNOR! 45-10: A little too late for the Reds after a rare line-out win and just reward for O'Connor who played well. O'Connor converts his own try.
FULL-TIME: WARATAHS 45-12 REDS. It has been one way traffic almost through-out this game. In the end the many mistakes let the Reds down. The Waratahs are the deserved winners. Thank you for joining us.
