22 Oct 2022

After 20/60min: Verstappen is now the quickest driver on track with a 1:36.706. He is marginally quicker than the Ferraris of Leclerc and Sainz. Fernando Alonso is looking particularly strong in the Alpine, with the team fitting a new engine to his car.

Mercedes-AMG's Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are yet to show their true hand.

22 Oct 2022

The formation lap is underway. We should go racing in the next few minutes. Almost there...

23 Oct 2022

Lap 1/56: Verstappen gets the jump on Sainz when the lights go out, leading into Turn 1 and out of it. Sainz then spun and dropped to the back of the field. He reported a puncture.

The big movers are the two Aston Martins. Stroll is 3rd with Vettel in 5th.

Verstappen now leads from Hamilton.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 5/56: Verstappen still leads from Hamilton, but the gap has increased to 2.3 seconds. Stroll is in third, but he is under increasing pressure from Russell who passed him for the position.

Perez has since passed Vettel for fifth, and is now hounding Stroll for fourth. Aston Martin will now just hope to have both cars inside the top 10 by the end of the race.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 15/56: The frontrunners have all paid the pits a visit for a set of Hard tyres. And though Verstappen is still out in front, he now has Leclerc behind him. The Ferrari driver is yet to pit and is still on the Medium tyre. Expect him to drop down the field when he makes his stop.

Stroll and Vettel are also yet to stop. It's fair to assume that Aston Martin's hopes of a top 10 finish is at risk.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 18/56: Safety Car for Bottas. He put his Alfa Romeo in the gravel. Leclerc and Vettel are now in the pits, benefitting from the SC.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 22/56: The safety car returns to the pits and racing resumes! Verstappen leads the field over the start/finish line and through Turn 1.

23 Oct 2022

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll crash, but the Alpine driver makes it to the pit. Both drivers are okay.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 30/56: Verstappen leads from Hamilton by almost two seconds, while Perez is fending off Leclerc in third. Russell served his five-second penalty for crashing into Sainz at the race's start and is now running in 5th - 1.5sec behind Leclerc.

Leclerc manages to pass Perez for 3rd, launching a daring move into one of the braking zones.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 40/56: Hamilton is now in second behind Vettel, with Verstappen in third. The Red Bull team fumbled when their driver came into the pits, gifting Hamilton the race's lead (Vettel will pit again).

Verstappen is little more than four seconds behind Hamilton and is closing the gap at a quick rate.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 45/56: Hamilton is still out in front, but Verstappen is now just 2.6sec adrift. Leclerc is keeping in touch with Verstappen's pace. What could play a role is that Verstappen is on the Medium tyre and Hamilton on the Hard. Red Bull is really rolling the dice with this one.

23 Oct 2022

Lap 50/56: Verstappen is now within one second of Hamilton, allowing him to activate DRS in the two DRS zones. We're in for an epic rush to the end!

23 Oct 2022

Verstappen passes Hamilton for the lead! They now start Lap 51.

23 Oct 2022

Final lap: Verstappen leads Hamilton over the line. His lead is 3.2 seconds.

23 Oct 2022

Max Verstappen wins the US Grand Prix! Overcoming a pit stop fumble and a duel with old rival Lewis Hamilton, the Dutchman clawed his Red Bull back to the top.

The 2022 F1 Drivers’ champion leaped into the race’s lead and looked unstoppable until he visited the pits for a second time. A rare mistake from the team saw him lose positions, rejoining the race behind Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-AMG).

But with a never-say-die attitude, he picked off his rivals to win the race, and equalling Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher’s record of 13 wins in a single season.

The top 10:

1. Max Verstappen

2. Lewis Hamilton

3. Charles Leclerc

4. Sergio Perez

5. George Russell

6. Fernando Alonso

7. Lando Norris

8. Sebastian Vettel

9. Kevin Magnussen

10. Yuki Tsunoda
