South Africa's Olympic golden girl Caster Semenya's slim chances of qualifying for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games are thinning with every passing day.

The double 800m defending Olympic champion was denied a chance to compete in her favourite distance when new World Athletics regulations prohibited women with differences of sexual development (DSD) from competing in 400m to mile distances - unless they took hormone suppressing drugs.

Semenya flat out refused to take the hormone blockers, which some scientists say have severe side effects, with the World Medical Association warning doctors not to administer them to patients.
