While his enormous experience of Twenty20 cricket is currently more of an asset than any special "golden voice" flair behind the microphone, JP Duminy has made a competent enough debut as an Indian Premier League television commentator this year.

Duminy was roped in for the 2020 tournament, hosted behind closed doors (so far anyway) at various venues in the neutral United Arab Emirates, as part of the well-subscribed panel providing the world feed, as offered to viewers on our shores by SuperSport.

He instantly became the lone "South African-specific" element of the cosmopolitan group, even if the SA links of former England batting star Kevin Pietersen and Zimbabwe’s Mpumelelo Mbangwa are hugely well known.
