South Africa's Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio gave an excellent account of herself by finishing in 13th place in the women's cycling road race at the Tokyo Olympics.

Moolman-Pasio was up in the leading peleton in a race won by Anna Kisenhofer of Austria.

Annemiek van Vleuten (Netherlands) and Elisa Longo Borghini (Italy) took home silver and bronze respectively.

The other South African in the field, Carla Oberholzer, unfortunately did not complete the course.
