Chad dominates in Doha

Doha - South Africa's Chad le Clos has set a new championship record in the 50m men's butterlfy in his semi-final at the FINA World Short-Course Swimming Championships in Doha on Friday.

Le Clos bettered Brazil's Nicholas Sanchez's record by 0.02secs in a time of 22.20sec, but was some way off Steffen Deibler's world record of 21.80sec set in Berlin in 2009.

Sanchez finished second behind Le Clos in a time of 22.49.

Le Clos will be looking to add a third gold medal to his tally after clinching the 200m men's freestyle on Wednesday and the 100m men's butterfly on Thursday, which he won in a new world record time.
