The Spar Proteas have arrived in London for the 2022 Netball Quad Series, which gets under way from Saturday at the Copper Box Arena.

South Africa will join hosts England, Australia and New Zealand in an enthralling series as it builds up to July's Commonwealth Games.

Proteas head coach Dorette Badenhorst and her charges have been in an isolation for a week and have reported no positive cases since arriving in the United Kingdom..

"It is always great to play against some of the best teams in the world, this gives you a sense of where you are as a team," said said Badenhorst in a press statement.

"I am delighted that we will get a chance to compete at this level especially after playing Africa Netball Championships and spending time in Ireland and Northern Ireland, respectively. We just need to do a bit of adjusting now and step up."

Last year, a relatively young Proteas outfit went unbeaten at the Africa Netball Cup to defend their title in Windhoek.

Proteas captain Bongiwe Msomi says that her side are eager to kick off the year against the world's best this week.

"It is always an honour for anyone of us to take to court and represent our country. The mood in the camp is very jovial and everyone is incredibly positive," said Msomi.

"We have a few young players in the team and we as the senior players need to make sure that we guide them and hold their hands in this series."

The last time the Proteas played at the Quad Series was back in 2019 in London, which saw Australia lifting the trophy.

However, Badenhorst is using this tournament as the perfect build-up to the much-anticipated Commonwealth Games  in Birmingham.

"This is probably the last time we will be together before Commonwealth Games in July," said Badenhorst.

"We will also be looking at getting some game time with teams that will not be playing in Commonwealth. From our side, preparations are already underway, and we just need to finalise an opponent for then."

Netball South Africa confirmed that the Quad Series will be broadcast live on SuperSport (Channel 209).

The Proteas will get their Netball Quad Series campaign under way against the hosts England on Saturday at 15:45 SA time.
