Terrible trio? That description is open to several interpretations … but should be seen as largely complimentary toward Eben Etzebeth, Brodie Retallick and Maro Itoje.

It is no coincidence that these tough, ultra-competitive No 4 locks turn out for, respectively, the currently top three-ranked sides on the World Rugby list: South Africa, New Zealand and England.
