Do you recall the big rallying expression when the soccer World Cup hit South African shores - to tumultuous nationwide enthusiasm - in 2010? "Feel it, it is here".

Eleven years on, albeit in a vastly changed and more challenging landscape for any number of reasons, you could almost apply it all over again, as the strongest sense yet came into play on Thursday that a British and Irish Lions rugby tour here is just around the corner.

It will be different not least because of the likelihood that the "fan vibe" - so tangible in 2010 - will be necessarily, quite brutally muted by the strong likelihood of a tour bio-bubble and spectator-free stadiums.
