Cape Town - Bulls scrumhalf Rudy Paige says he will continue to work hard to keep his place in the Pretoria side’s starting XV.

Paige had a stellar Super Rugby campaign last year and was rewarded with a call-up to the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup squad.

He made his Test debut in the tournament against the United States in London and also played in the Bronze Final against Argentina.

After the Bulls opted to play Francois Hougaard on the wing, Paige established himself as the no 1 scrumhalf ahead of Piet van Zyl in 2015.

With Hougaard now playing sevens, Paige is again expected to be the No 1 scrumhalf at the Bulls this year, with Piet and Ivan van Zyl the other scrumhalves in the squad.

However, Paige is not taking anything for granted.

“You can never look too far ahead because there will always be good competition for spots,” he told Netwerk24.

“I’ve learnt that you have to work hard every day if you want to be No 1. There are good scrumhalves here at the Bulls and from last season I’ve learnt that anything can happen.”
