The Springboks received an injury scare over the weekend when star wing Cheslin Kolbe limped off in Toulouse's Top 14 clash against Clermont.

Kolbe was forced to leave the field in the seventh minute after becoming entangled in a tackle near the sideline.

He twisted awkwardly under the weight of a tackler and comments on social media suggested he suffered a groin injury.

However, the time spent on the sidelines appeared to do the trick as Kolbe remarkably made his return in the 61st minute when Toulouse flyhalf Romain Ntamack left the field injured.

The Bok star was soon back to his best when he made an impressive try-saving tackle after running down Clermont wing Peter Betham who had intercepted. Kolbe then got to his feet and won possession on the ground.

Kolbe impressed again when he cut through the Clermont defence with his trademark step before keeping the ball alive with a basketball-pass. With one more offload off the ground, Toulouse scored a stunning try but it was disallowed due to a forward pass.

Toulouse won the game 36-27 and with just one weekend of the regular season left to play, they retain top spot in the table but are equal on 77 points with La Rochelle, the team they beat in the European Cup final in Twickenham the previous week.

La Rochelle bounced back from that defeat to thrash Pau 51-27 earlier on Saturday.
