If there was an award for sheer gallantry from the latest round of the Currie Cup, I have little doubt where my vote would go ... the extremely raw, unheralded Lee-Marvin Mazibuko of Western Province.

If his name sounds very much like a certain late Hollywood movie star ... well, he played as if one on Friday.

Not only did the young tighthead prop's availability at the last minute (yes, almost literally that) play a key role in ensuring the Newlands match against the Pumas could even go ahead, but his gritty personal showing in the face of enormous odds was an example to some greatly more street-wise figures all around him in the blue-and-white ranks who haven't been firing on all cylinders for their erratic cause.
