"Emerging coach" of this weird year-and-a-bit in South African franchise rugby: the garland remains very much up for grabs.

A 2020 calendar year that began in orthodox fashion with Super Rugby (remember that?) went into several months of dormancy during the first wave of the coronavirus before the sport on our shores reemerged with Super Rugby Unlocked and an attached, summer Currie Cup.

The last-named competition reaches a climax over the next two to three weeks, with the final round of ordinary season this weekend, followed by semis and then the showpiece on 23 January.
