PICTURES: JP Pietersen all smiles at Sharks training

Cape Town - Former Springbok wing JP Pietersen attended the Sharks' Currie Cup training session on Thursday, all but confirming he'll feature for the coastal franchise in this year's tournament.

This comes after his contract with French giants Toulon was not renewed.

With all of Sb'u Nkosi, Makazole Mapimpi, Lukhanyo Am and Andre Esterhuizen likely to be involved with the Springboks in the Rugby Championship and Rugby World Cup, a player of Pietersen's experience would be welcomed at Kings Park.

It's also been suggested Pietersen could be involved beyond 2020 as a coach of the Sharks' junior teams.

Thirty-two-year-old Pietersen, who played 70 Tests for the Springboks, represented the Sharks between 2006 and 2016, featuring in 137 Super Rugby matches.

He also played at Japanese club Panasonic Wild Knights between 2013 and 2016 and joined English club Leicester Tigers in 2017, before joining Toulon later that year.
