Cape Town - Springbok and Golden Lions prop Julian Redelinghuys is back home after undergoing a successful neck operation.

Redelinghuys, 27, broke his neck after being tackled by Free State Cheetahs hooker Torsten Van Jaarsveld in last Saturday’s Currie Cup semi-final in Bloemfontein - a game the Cheetahs won 55-17.

Redelinghuys sustained a dislocation of his neck at C5/6 level and underwent a successful operation in a Bloemfontein hospital the following day.

He has since recovered sufficiently and has returned home to Johannesburg.

He posted a message on his Instagram account after returning home, praising God and the people who wished him well.

Whether Redelinghuys makes a return to rugby remains to be seen.
