WP Rugby is reportedly set to enter into a groundbreaking partnership with French giants Stade Francais.

According to Afrikaans newspaper Rapport, this planned strategic alliance would see WP Rugby boasting headquarters in Paris in order to boost its PRO16 Rainbow Cup campaign, as well as an annual friendly match between the Stormers and Stade Francais with the venue alternating between Cape Town and Paris.

The deal would see the two outfits swap players and coaches, as well as exchanging knowledge and rugby expertise.

The news will be welcomed by Cape rugby fans, who have been left frustrated in recent months when a proposed deal with an American consortium MVM Holdings fell through.

MVM Holdings, who wanted a 51% share in WP Rugby, subsequently moved up the coast to Durban where they signed a similar deal with the Sharks.
