The Lions have received a double injury blow as centre EW Viljoen and flank Roelof Smit are sidelined with knee injuries.

The duo was injured in last Friday's 32-28 preparation series win over the Pumas in Johannesburg.

Viljoen suffered a left knee injury and is expected to be out for three weeks, while Smit sustained a Grade II superficial medial collateral ligament (MCL tear) in his left knee and will be out for three-four weeks.

The Lions' next encounter is against the EP Elephants in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) next Wednesday (10 March, 16:45).
