Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer is reported to be in high demand in Japan.

According to the Rapport newspaper, the Canon Eagles and Docomo Red Hurricanes are both interested in acquiring the services of the former Bok mentor.

Meyer, 48, coached the Springboks from 2012 before stepping down at the end of 2015 following the Springboks’ third place finish at the Rugby World Cup.

According to the newspaper, a move to a European club is also not beyond the realms of possibility.

Meyer, who previously achieved great success at the Bulls, has prior experience of coaching abroad when he took charge of English club Leicester Tigers between 2008 and 2009.
