Sharks head coach Robert du Preez has made just one change to his starting line-up for their top-of-the-table clash with Western Province. Jacques Vermeulen comes into the XV in place of Luke Stringer in the number six shirt, with the latter moving to the bench. Leolin Zas has come onto the bench for Sbu Nkosi, who is with the Springboks for their clash with Australia.

Western Province head coach John Dobson has made eight alterations to his starting line-up to take on the Sharks. Five changes come in the pack and three are in the backline as Province look to make it five consecutive Currie Cup victories. Captain Chris van Zyl, flank Kobus van Dyk and number eight Juarno Augustus are the only forwards remaining who started in the 38-12 victory against Griquas last week. Ali Vermaak, Scarra Ntubeni and Michael Kumbirai form a new front-row, with Caylib Oosthuizen, Chad Solomon and Carlu Sadie on the replacements bench. JD Schickerling starts alongside Van Zyl at lock, while Augustus and Van Dyk are joined by Ernst van Rhyn in the loose trio, with Chris Massyn among the replacements. Scrum-half Jano Vermaak, wing SP Marais and full-back Dillyn Leyds are all back in the starting line-up, with Herschel Jantjies and JJ Engelbrecht set to provide impact in the second-half.

The Sharks are looking to hit Western Province hard but the home side are able to get good ball going forward and Augustus barges into the Sharks 22.

The restart is deep again and WP don't find touch again. The Sharks surrender the ball in contact on halfway and a mishit kick is nearly gathered by Marais but the Sharks have the lineout ten from their own 22.
A sloppy lineout is eventually gathered by the Sharks who kick initiating a game of aerial ping-pong before Bosch's kick runs into goal and is dotted. WP to drop out.
TRY, WESTERN PROVINCE, NEL! 12-7. INTERCEPTION! the Sharks throw a series of loose passes and Nel gets his hands on one for a straight sprint to the line.
The Sharks are in possession on halfway struggling to breakdown the Western Province defense.

Augustus lurking out wide bashes it up into the Sharks 22. WP in good position to add more points.

The Sharks attack again but a little chip kick doesn't find a Sharks hand and WP can kick clear. Fassi is then impeded in his attempt to chip and chase and the Sharks get a penalty, they set up a lineout five from WP's line.
HALF-TIME: WESTERN PROVINCE 31-21 SHARKS XV: The hooter went long before the try was scored and that will end the half with a big boost to the Sharks who looked dead an buried at the half-hour mark.
CONVERSION, SHARKS, ROBERT DU PREEZ. 31-21: Robert Du Preez adds another two points bringing the first half aggregate to 52 and cut Western Province's lead to ten points.

The Sharks cough up the ball from the lineout but WP are unable to carry it into their half and they are driven back to about fifteen from their 22 before kicking. The Sharks knock the loose ball on as no players go for the high ball. WP scrum ten inside the Sharks half.

A slip from Louw spoils good ball for the Sharks who then cough up the ball as an interception. There looked to be obstruction as WP go over for the score.
