A win for the Tahs wold see them move to the top of the Australian conference ahead of the Rebels clash against the Sunwolves. A Blues victory would mean they would move up to fifth on the combined log.
The Blues have won the last three clashes between these sides and are searching for their fourth win in a row in the tournament this year. Waratahs meanwhile are coming off a shock loss to the Sunwolves

Hello and welcome to today's coverage as the Waratahs travel to Auckland to face off against the Blues.
Early mistake from the Waratahs as the clearance kick is out on the full and the Blues will have an early attacking line-out.
Kick-off! Black gets us underway.
Penalty to the Blues right in front of the posts and they point to to the poles.
PENALTY, BLUES, BLACK! 3-0: Blues draw first blood as Black splits the poles.
Waratahs now with a line-out 30m out from the line. They lose it forward and Blues look to counter before winning a penalty.
Blues force the Tahs back after the 22m drop out and Folau's clearance isn't the best. Meanwhile Gibson has gone down and called to the bench straight away. Could be an early blow to the Blues.
Blues with a line-out inside the Tahs half. They go through the phases and get up towards the 22m. Nonu tries to dink a kick behind and the mark is called.
Gibson leaves the field and is replaced by Papalii Blues with an attacking line-out.
TRY, BLUES, ROBINSON! 8-0: Brilliant from the Blues who get over the game line over and over again before Nonu's cut-out pass puts Robinson over.
CONVERSION, BLUES, BLACK! 10-0: No problems with the kick from Black.
First scrum of the match is evenly contested and Blues on the attack through Nonu who runs over Phipps before being brought down. They win a penalty for the Waratahs not releasing.
Waratahs with their first chance to attack. Blues are attacking every ruck and eventually manage force a maul from a tackle and subsequently the turnover.
The Waratahs win possession from the Blues line-out and set out on the attack. Foley looked to kick ahead and gets hammered, losing the ball in the process. Blues up to the halfway and win another penalty. Last warning for not releasing.
Great kick from Black means the Blues will have a line-out inside the Tahs 22m.
TRY, BLUES, CLARKE! 15-0: Nonu again the provider. The forwards knocked it up before a good pop from Nonu finds Clarke who ran a good line and dives over.
CONVERSION, BLUES, BLACK! 17-0: Easy as you like from the pivot.
The Waratahs have some possession before Foley hoists an up and under. The teams trade some possession before Folau sets about on the attack. The Waratahs are then bundled over into touch.
Big hit from the Tash on Black and they win possession back after the line-out. Foley kicks behind and the Tahs win some valuable territory.
The Blues clear and the Waratahs have a line-out just outside the Blues 22m.
Blues concede a penalty for hands in the ruck by Parsons. The Waratahs kick to the corner. Big chance for the visitors.
TRY, WARATAHS, FOLAU! 17-5: Playing to their strengths! The Waratahs set up the ruck and with the advantage, Foley puts a cross-kick high in the air and Folau too good in the air as he gathers and falls over to become the leading try scorer in the tournaments history.
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 17-7: A good kick from Foley and the Waratahs cut the deficit to 10 points.
Blues still just recycling possession among the forwards and they have 20 seconds to go.
HIA assessment for Black as he departs the field.
Waratahs much better as a kick from Foley is regathered on the Blues 22m. They win a penalty on the right hand side and they kick for the line.
Almost a second as Foley's crosskick finds Clark who's inside ball to Folau almost sees the fullback in for his second but good defence from the Blues. The Tahs have a penalty and once again kick for the line.
Brilliant from the Blues defence. The Waratahs looked to have the momentum with the drive but as the ball goes down the Blues players pile in to prevent the ball going out and win a scrum.
The Blues clear their lines as far as the 10m line.
Close for the Waratahs as the floated pass to Cooper sees him attack. He gets into the 22m before being brought down and his pop from the ground can't be gathered by Hunt.
The Blues eventually manage to clear their lines. They force the Waratahs back up towards the halfway line. The Tahs make some ground before losing it forward and the Blues rest and clear again.
TRY, WARATAHS, MILLER! 17-12: The pressure pays off as the Tahs set up a driving maul and crash over. Miller the man with the ball and the away side score before halftime.
Tahs win a penalty inside the 22m and set up a 5m line-out. Black is back on from the Head Injury Assessment.
HALF-TIME: BLUES 17-14 WARATAHS. A half of two halves. The Blues got off to a flier before the Waratahs settled into the game and struck back. Just a penalty from Black separates the sides at the break.
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 17-14: 1000 Super Rugby points for Foley as he curls the ball through the poles from out wide.
Back underway for the second half!
Blues have an early line-out inside their half. They get some go forward ball and win a penalty on the halfway line.
Robinson is down and receiving some treatment but Blues continue with the line-out. They go to the back of the line out and the forwards start to bash it up.
TRY, BLUES, FAIANE! 22-14: The Blues were patient in the attack. With 5m to go, they go to the blindside and Blacks inside ball finds Faiane who powers over.
The conversion attempt from Black goes wide.
Kurtley Beale is on for the Waratahs and the veteran is immediately into the action as he dabs a kick behind the Blues defence to win some territory for his team.
The Blues kick possession back to the Waratahs who look to attack down the left flank before going out.
The Waratahs are making great ground here and they finally think they are over. The referee has deemed it to be held up and they will have a 5m scrum.
TRY, WARATAHS, NEWSOME! 22-19: The try has Newsome's name on it but Folau take a bow! The Tahs get out wide and Folau attacks the game line drawing two defenders before giving Newsome the space to run the try in.
CONVERSION, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 22-21: Another good kick from the Wallabies flyhalf and it's a one point game!
Big hit as Clark gathers and takes the hit from Clarke. The Waratahs kick deep and the Blues call for the mark and can slow the game down a bit.
TRY, BLUES, NONU! 27-21: The provider turns scorer as Nonu gets one for himself. A messy pass from the Tahs line-out allows Ioane to get Nonu into a gap and he has too much pace as he dives under the poles
CONVERSION, BLUES, BLACK! 29-21: Black adds the extras.
PENALTY, WARATAHS, FOLEY! 29-24: No problems there from Foley as he cuts the deficit to five points.
The Waratahs win a penalty inside the Blues 22m and they are going to have a shot at goal.
Akira Ioane has powered over and try was awarded before the Waratahs asked the referee to go upstairs and check the grounding and he obliges.
PENALTY, BLUES, BLACK! 32-24: Black delivers and the Blues extend their lead.
The decision is no try but the Blues had an advantage and they will go back for the penalty. The Blues will go for the three pointer.
The Blues have a promising attack but Collin's lost it forward. Waratahs have a scrum just inside their half on the right hand side.
The Waratahs loose the ball but because of a knock on from the Blues. Blues defence once again proving to be a game changer but Tahs with a good set piece opportunity.
Beale pounces on a fortuitous ball and he wins a penalty. They take it quickly and surge into the Blues 22m.
Folau makes a great break and his pass is knocked on by Nock who was trying to make the interception and another scrum to the Waratahs.
TRY, WARATAHS, GORDON! 32-29: Too quick from the scrumhalf. Folau stood behind the scrum to give the Blues something to think about but Gordon picked up and went right to to the corner himself.
Conversion attempt missed by Foley.
Blues win possession and look to keep it tight. They have two minutes to hold out for.
FULLTIME: BLUES 32-29 WARATAHS! Brilliant game and a masterclass from the Blues in discipline and organization. Waratahs pushed them to the edge but the Blues managed to remain composed and see out the game.
The Blues win the penalty and that will be the game.
