Much will depend on the effectiveness of the pack in front of them ... it always does in rain-lashed rugby games.

But if they get a suitable stream of possession from the home eight, the Sharks' halfback combination of Curwin Bosch, in the No 10 channel, and fast-rising Jaden Hendrikse, as his scrumhalf provider, seem better equipped by reputation than Stormers opposite numbers Abner van Reenen and Hershel Jantjies to control Saturday's important Rainbow Cup SA date at Kings Park (13:00).

The one thing that has looked a near-certainty for several days in the lead-up - it's a bit of a do-or-die affair for both coastal adversaries - has been the prospect of significant rain, both ahead of and then during the fixture.
