Cape Town - Former Springbok captain Corne Krige feels Mzwandile Stick is “out of his depth” as the team’s current backline coach.

Krige, who played 39 Tests for the Boks between 1999 and 2003, has criticised the top brass at SA Rugby who made the appointment.

“I support transformation but Mzwandile Stick is, with all respect, out of his depth. He was appointed Springbok backline coach after two seasons coaching the worst union in the country's Under19 team," Krige told Netwerk24.

“He might have a lot of talent, but at international level you need years of experience. To coach the Springboks is difficult enough and someone should be held accountable somewhere for making such thoughtless decisions.”

Krige said he felt sorry for current coach Allister Coetzee.

“I have a lot of sympathy for Allister because he can only work with what he has and there are questions about the quality of his coaching staff."
