It's a glorious day in Kumagaya. Temperatures peaking at around 26 degrees celcius with slightly lower humidity than we've become accustomed to this tournament. This should make handling a lot easier, and make for a great game of running rugby. Argentina will run away with this one if they find any sort of rhythm.
For both sides, the quarterfinals are out of reach, although realistically it was only the Pumas that ever stood a chance of reaching them. A win tonight for Argentina will seal third place in pool C, gaining them automatic qualification into the next World Cup.
The sides have faced each other 8 times, with Argentina winning them all, but the two teams haven't played each other since 2005. Since then, the USA side have become a different prospect entirely, with their sevens game growing drastically. If Argentina aren't clinical, and the Eagles settle into this match, it could get interesting.
Today's referee is Paul Williams, assisted by Jaco Peyper and Brendon Pickerill, with Graham Hughes on TMO duty.
Gary Gold has made three changes to his side that fought bravely in a 33-9 loss to France last Wednesday. The impressive young scrumhalf Ruben de Haas replaces Shaun Davies in his first start for the USA. The other two changes are lock Greg Peterson and centre Paul Lasike, who replace Nick Civetta and Martin Iosefo respectively.
Mario Ledesma has made nine changes to his Pumas side that were thumped 39-10 by England on Saturday. Montoya and Tetaz Chaparro keep their spots in the front row. In the rest of the forward pack, it's just Petti and Matera who retain their spots. In the backline, De La Fuente keeps his place at inside centre, with Santiago Carreras at left wing the last remaining man from the defeat.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this 2019 Rugby World Cup Pool C clash. We are at the Kumagaya Rugby Stadium for today's match between Argentina and USA.
The game is underway as Nicolas Sanchez goes for a hanging kick off into the Eagles 22.
The Pumas are moving it side to side through the hands with ease. They're not making many metres but gaps appear to be opening up at each phase. A little knock in ends the play after 9 phases. USA scrum on halfway.
After a couple of resets, the Eagles retain the ball from their scrum. They get some good go forward but look to a grubber. It's well retrieved from Tuculet but a poor kick from him lets the US run it back . Argentina force the turnover eventually and now they'll look to run it back.
Brilliant from the Argentines. They counter attack superbly, getting it out wide and finding the overlap on the wing. Delguy was sprinting away toward the last defender, and looked as if he had beaten him with some clever footwork, but stumbles over his own feet. The Eagles give away an offside penalty, which the Pumas kick to the corner.
The lineout is good, with the Eagles defending the driving maul well. The Argentines continue to try create the gap, but Paul Lasike reads a pass and intercepts in centre field. He jumped the gun, doing so from an offside position. Argentina have elected to scrum, less than 10 metres from the line.
Ezcurra thought he was through for the try but Matera had created the space for him off the back of the scrum by holding the defender back. The TMO spots it, and play restarts with a USA penalty.
Fantastic counter rucking from the US manages to get them the ball at the Argentine 22. The Eagles get extremely close to the line. The try seemed imminent but just unable to get it over, with Argentina turning it over and clearing.
Argentina win the lineout and look to play it out. Lots of hospital passes going around but the Pumas do just enough to clear.
The Pumas make a telling break up field. Great defence from the Eagles who force the knock on as the Carreras tried to bring in the final pass.
TRY! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 5-0. Sublime from the veteran flyhalf! He creates the gap on halfway for Mallia, who sliced straight through the defence. He did phenomenally to stay in support, and Mallia plays him in. The flyhalf has just enough speed to get it over the line in the corner!
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 7-0. A touch of class from Sanchez, who steps up and slots the kick from the corner to convert his own try.
Tuculet gets the ball just outside his 22, and gains territory for his side with a touch seeking kick at the US 40 metre line.
TRY! ARGENTINA! TUCULET! 12-0. Brilliant play from Sanchez, once again. He spots space behind the defence near the line and puts a little chip kick in. Mike Teo gets outdone by the bounce and Tuculet is happy to sprint over and dot the ball down for the try.
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 14-0. An easy second conversion right in front of the sticks from Sanchez is successful.
Argentina have a scrum on their own 40 metre line which they win a penalty from. Sanchez finds touch on the Eagles 22.
Juan Cruz Mallia is caught isolated near the wing, with the Eagles winning a penalty for holding on.
The Eagles look to spread it wide, but under pressure, Teo looks to slap it on to Brache, with the ball going forward.
The USA discipline is getting worse now. A few penalties in a few minutes and it looks like they'll go to the corner again. Sanchez finds touch 5 metres out.
TRY! ARGENTINA! TUCULET! 19-0. A degree of inevitability about this. The Argentines spread it wide a number of times. Tuculet does well to create a one on one and force his way over the line.
Sanchez unable to convert this time. He slices his kick well wide of the right post.
The USA get 7 phases together, but the Pumas defence is rock solid, driving them back about 15 metres. It forces them to look for a miracle ball which is lost, and Sanchez puts a kick through which trickles into touch 5 metres from the line. Paul Williams rules that there was an early tackle which caused the USA knock on, so we go back to halfway for a penalty to the Eagles.
TRY! USA! SCULLY! 19-5. The Eagles get a bit of go forward. A good offload from Lasike in contact leaves Macginty in a bit of space. He looks up and spots a gap between the defence. He threads through a wonderful grubber which sits up perfectly for Blaine Scully who dives over in the corner for the try!
HALF TIME. ARGENTINA 19 - 5. An important late try from the Eagles will give them hope and possibly a bit of momentum going into the second half. Apart from that moment, it's been domination and clinical from the Pumas. They'll be looking to push on and search for more tries in the second half. Can't see USA turning this one around.
Macginty hits the post from the conversion attempt out wide.
AJ Macginty gets the second half underway with a deep kick off which Argentina have knocked on under a bit of pressure.
Remarkable run from Bautista Delguy!! They turn the ball over in their 22 and look to run, but there's a US knock on out wide. This sends Delguy running back, but he doesn't mind. He goes on a mazey run, along his own try line and finds a gap through the middle. He takes it up to halfway and puts a kick through which finds touch inside the US 22.
TRY! ARGENTINA! MALLIA! 24-5. This is a stake to the heart of the US cause. Argentina turn the ball over at the lineout, and it's not taken long after that for Mallia to get the ball in space close to the line and dive over. A first international try for him.
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 26-5. Successful kick from right in front.
De La Fuente charges through a gap with wonderful stepping and strong fending. The Pumas look like they're through for another try, but Tuculet can't gather a poor pass from De La Fuente's offload, knocking it on at the US 22.
TRY! ARGENTINA! MALLIA! 31-5. That is brilliant from De La Fuente! Argentina take a quick lineout near halfway, catching the Eagles defence napping. De La Fuente carries it to the line, drawing three defenders before dropping off a superb short ball to Mallia. Juan Cruz Mallia ran a great line and canters to the try line untouched.
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 33-5. Another simple kick from under the uprights is successful for Sanchez.
The Eagles win a penalty and kick toward the corner. They find touch 10 metres from the line.
The Eagles win the ball from their lineout and do really well, looking like they'll score. They look to dive over for the try but it's held up. No problem, as they were playing under advantage for a high tackle and kick to the corner.
The maul was perfectly set from the US but somehow Creevy has come in and forced the maul into touch. Brilliant defence from him.
TRY! ARGENTINA! DE LA FUENTE! 38-5. Lineout time proving a struggle for the Eagles. The Pumas make the steal near halfway, spreading it out wide quickly. Carreras times the inside pass perfectly, beating the last defender, leaving De La Fuente with a free run to the line for a well deserved try.
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! SANCHEZ! 40-5. Nicolas Sanchez's easy second half work continues with another simple conversion.
Creevy thought he saw the ball out inside his 22. He goes to make the steal but was offside. Macginty kicks for the corner.
TRY! USA! LASIKE! 40-10. Paul Lasike barges his way through a few defenders. Paul Williams' onfield decision was a try, and the TMO can't find enough evidence from the footage to overturn it. It's try time!
CONVERSION! USA! MACGINTY! 40-12. Simple conversion from right beneath the poles for Macginty.
Argentina will have a lineout near the US 40 metre line. A great ball from Urdapilleta is so illusive that not even Tuculet, the man it was intended for, read it. He knocks it on and gets clattered in the process.
Tuculet riggles out of a tackle on the wing and looks to be away but he stumbles and knocks on. The Eagles turn it over and run it straight back, before they are stopped at the Pumas 22.
Broken play around midfield doesn't prove fruitful for either side. Argentina manage to win a penalty on halfway for holding on.
Urdapilleta gets front foot ball on the 22. He looks for a little chip kick toward the wing but it lands in open real estate, trickling into touch, 10 metres from the USA line.
TRY! ARGENTINA! BERTRANOU! 45-12. Subliminal play once again from Los Pumas. Mallia throws a wonderful dummy near halfway, selling 2 players, and sliding through the gap. He brings it forward and throws a wonderful, late, no look ball to Bertranou, who steps the final defender to find his way over the line.
CONVERSION! ARGENTINA! URDAPILLETA! 47-12. The conversion is easy enough from Benjamin Urdapilleta. His first kick of the day is successful.
USA turn the ball over for holding on with Argentina deep inside their 22.
A forward pass thwarts another promising Pumas attack. They've really just been on another level today. USA will be hoping for a late consolation try.
Juan Cruz Mallia gets named Man of the Match for his fantastic performance at outside centre. He's been marvellous all game, scoring two tries and creating others.
Delguy is freed up out wide. He goes for an audacious kick over the top. Unfortunately, he's overcooked it and the ball has gone dead. Play restarts with a USA scrum on their own 40 metre line.
USA win a scrum penalty which they put out for a lineout, with a great kick, just 10 metres from the Argentine line.
TRY! USA! SCULLY! 47-17. The Eagles get the ball from their lineout and shunt it forward. Space opens out wide, which Will Hooley spots at first receiver. He throws a looping ball out wide to Scully who runs over for a brace. A well deserved consolation try for the US.
FULL TIME. ARGENTINA 47 - 17 USA. The conversion is unsuccessful as the game ends. A clean final performance from Argentina to end their World Cup on a high. A disappointing campaign for Los Pumas, but they'll take a lot of pride from that win which secures 3rd spot in Pool C.
