Blitzboks overcome plucky Ireland to remain unbeaten in Dubai

The Springbok Sevens side remained unbeaten at the Dubai Sevens after a hard-fought win over Ireland on Friday.

The Blitzboks won 21-12, after leading 7-0 at half-time.

The South Africans ran in three tries but were given a good run for their money by the Irish, who fought hard for two second half tries.

Earlier on Friday, the Blitzboks thumped Japan 48-0 in their opening match of the weekend.

In their final Pool A match on Friday, the South Africans will face Great Britain at 18:33 (SA time).

The Blitzboks won last weekend's first Dubai Sevens event after a 42-7 win over the USA in the Cup final and are the top seeds this weekend.
