Sydney - Forwards James Slipper and Ben McCalman will return to the Wallabies after long-term injuries in a squad named by coach Michael Cheika on Sunday for this week's clash with the Barbarians in Sydney.

Front-rower Slipper suffered an Achilles injury in March, while back-rower McCalman was sidelined with shoulder trouble.

Young Queensland backrower Liam Wright joined the national squad for the first time, featuring in a selection that includes seven uncapped players.

Brumbies centre Kyle Godwin and Reds lock Kane Douglas also forced their way back into the 28-man squad.

Thirteen players from Saturday's epic 23-18 victory over New Zealand in Brisbane have been rested ahead of next month's tour of Japan and Britain.

It will be Australia's final game at home this year. The Wallabies have only played the Barbarians in Australia once before, back in 2009 in a 55-7 win in Sydney.

The Barbarians will be prepared by former Wallabies coach Alan Jones for next Saturday's game.
