Cape Town - Barbarians president Micky Steele-Bodger is excited by the prospect of facing the Springboks next year.

It was announced on Wednesday that the famous invitation side will tackle the Boks at London’s Wembley Stadium on November 5, 2016.

“Our links with South Africa date back to the first match in 1952 and playing them at Wembley will be another exciting chapter in the story,” Steele-Bodger said via a press statement.

“Many of the greatest Springboks players have represented the club with great skill and it should be a marvellous contest in the best traditions of the game. I am sure supporters of both sides will enjoy a thrilling game next November.”

It will be the Barbarians' first appearance at Wembley since the Olympic Centenary match against Australia in 2008 and they will be taking on the Springboks for the eighth time since 1952.

This match is the third encounter to be confirmed for the Springboks’ traditional tour of the Northern Hemisphere at the end of the local season.

South Africa will also face England (November 12) and Wales (November 26), with more matches to be added to the tour soon.
