It will take some doing from domestic players, when play finally resumes in South Africa, to break into a positional "closed shop" in the Springbok squad: the lock department.

Right now, there is very little reason for new national coach Jacques Nienaber and his lieutenants to feel they need to break up the all overseas-based, World Cup-winning 2019 quartet of Eben Etzebeth, Lood de Jager, RG Snyman and Franco Mostert.

That is about as dreamy a second-row arsenal as you could wish for, with little to choose between them, whichever combination you chose to prioritise.
