Springbok lock enforcer Eben Etzebeth, renowned for his abrasive play, has inevitably had his share of injury hassles during a first-class career now spanning almost a decade.

In his lengthy tenure at Newlands with the Stormers/Western Province (2012-19), there were at least two seasons where he played little or no Super Rugby, for example.

The 29-year-old is back in idle mode again while on the books of French giants Toulon: a recent broken finger to blame.
